A team from Bulgaria actively participated in the final events of the WEGO3 project in Brussels in February.
CSCD expert Diana Georgieva, Ana Popova from Ruse University "Angel Kanchev" and Damla Akhmedova from Association "Center Dinamika", city of Ruse participated in the final conference. At the meeting, the results achieved in Bulgaria and the successfully piloted local measures for qualification and retraining of women who suffered abuse from an intimate partner were presented.
The activities in the Ruse region took place mainly in the summer of 2022, when a team of 7 women, representatives of the target group, participated in a series of trainings for the development of their own business and social entrepreneurship. The girls also completed a course for educators and first aid. Today, they are already licensed babysitters and can safely practice this profession.
In November 2022 "Veselushko22" hourly childcare agency was already registered and is already looking for its first clients.
Georgieva pointed out that one of the greatest achievements of the team of girls she works with is the creation of a community that works towards the economic empowerment of women who have experienced intimate partner violence. The preparatory period also contributed to this - 2 years ago, 16 organizations and institutions from the region joined forces to support these women.
Colleagues from the partner countries of the project did not fail to note that the model implemented in Bulgaria is undoubtedly the most successful.
