On November 21, a workshop on Effective Reporting for Development, Minorities and Migration was held, where students had the opportunity to learn more about migration and indigenous people and to receive valuable advices from journalists who have worked in different points across the globe.
Increasing challenges for minorities and indigenous peoples - this is the conclusion of yesterday's presentation of Minority Rights Group (MRGI) 's Minorities and Indigenous Peoples 2019 Annual Report: A Focus on Climate Justice. The annual "Journalism for Development - 2019" awards were then presented.
Participants were 68 people, including 46 students of Professional High School of Tourism and Light Industry and the Southwest University – Blagoevgrad. 32 students out of 46 were at the age of 18-29. The established good contacts between the CSCD, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions in Agriculture (IFSZ) and the local government in Blagoevgrad made it possible to hold a serious training seminar "The Green Deal, the Just Transition and the Agriculture Sector - Cooperation vs Confrontation".
The use of social media by repressive states and extremist groups is adding directly to the threats faced by some of the world’s most vulnerable populations and can exacerbate violence where atrocities have occurred or risk transpiring, according to new data analysis by Minority Rights Group International (MRG) and the Ceasefire Centre for Civilian Rights.
Professors from several universities, media editors and journalism students gathered on 28 May at Rosslyn Central Park Hotel to discuss whether there is space for minorities and migrants in the public discourse of the Bulgarian media, whether the audience is solidary in Bulgaria and who are the main challenges that the media is facing in covering these topics.
